Downtown Steppers
Students in 3rd-6th grade are chosen to be a part of the ever popular Downtown Step Team that performs at all DMCS special events- including student assemblies and programs. Stepping is a form of percussive dance in which the participant's entire body is used as an instrument to produce complex rhythms and sounds through a mixture of footsteps, spoken word, and hand claps. Led by Ms. Stephenson, students must audition using the choreographed routine and are selected based on their performance, academic valor, as well as citizenship.
