Educational Philosophy
Downtown Miami Charter School has as its core philosophy the belief that all children can develop as intellectual learners, function as good citizens, learn as individuals in our society and develop as actual or potential workers in our community. At Downtown Miami Charter School, we strive to help all students develop to their fullest potential through a rigorous academic curriculum combined with problem solving, critical thinking, communication skills and current technology. We encourage respect for others by treating students, faculty members, and patrons with respect.
We value the traditional classroom teacher and the role of the family and its impact on our students, and we place strong emphasis on the value of new information and technologies to enhance the development of the individual strengths of each of our students. We place strong emphasis on identifying our student's learning styles and developing strategies that enable these students to succeed.
We believe the synergy of the low teacher-pupil ratio, the goal oriented curriculum and the preparation and teaching experience of the carefully selected staff provides consistency between our mission and our educational program.
Curriculum
All CSUSA curriculum standards are equal to or greater than Sunshine State Standards. A cadre of CSUSA teachers has further aligned the state standards to national standards, so our students experience a rigorous curriculum.
CSUSA school teams usually made up of the principal and selected staff members, select curriculum resources that best meet the needs of their school population. Typically, curriculum resources are ordered through the Florida Textbook Depository, which allows for a wide range of sources that meet the standards of state adopted materials.
We are proud to offer a challenging and enriched curriculum across all grade levels which will inspire our students to become life-long learners. We offer specialized instruction utilizing a variety of teaching modalities to meet the needs of all our students' individual learning styles.
